Raíces Unidas - Help Support Families with Loved Ones Abducted by Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE)
While local food insecurity continues to be an ongoing focus for our group since this administration's first government shutdown... we now have the opportunity to help uplift Raíces Unidas! Raíces Unidas is a network of community members working to help support families experiencing food insecurity due to an ICE related familial abduction. To help take the "guess work" out of shopping for or selecting donations, a list of suggested foods to donate based on cultural staples and the families requests is available below (but all donations are appreciated!) Please click the following drop down area menu to access the list:

How to Donate Food for Families in Need
An Important Note on Food Donation Safety: IoTR will only accept UNOPENED items. All items must be donated PRIOR to the printed "Best by" or "Sell by" date.
There's a few ways you can help support these families in need:
- Donate food in-person at an IoTR meeting or event
- Drop off donations at the homes of a member of the IoTR leadership team
- Monday Morning Food Donation Pick-Up (Limited to a 10 mile radius in and around Lake Wales): If you have a busy schedule or prefer not to drive, IoTR offers a once a week donation pick-up! To participate 1) send us an email (or contact a member of the IoTR leadership directly) with your pick-up address and an estimated quantity/weight of items to be picked up before 3:00 PM, SUNDAY. 2) Place your shelf stable donations on your front porch or another easily accessible area BEFORE 10:00 AM ON MONDAY MORNING. [Note: We only offer this service to people we know/recognize or have two or more other pre-existing members in the group willing to vouch for you. The safety of our supporters and members is our highest priority.]
- Venmo money directly to Raíces Unidas! Send us an email (CLICK HERE) and we will share their Venmo handle if you are someone we know/recognize or have two other pre-existing members in the group willing to vouch for you. (Receipts for purchases made using funds donated over Venmo available upon request.)
(Note: If you can't or don't feel like shopping, you can always drop a Walmart/Publix gift card, or a cash donation earmarked for this purpose with someone on the IoTR Leadership Team when you see us. Please, NO CHECKS. It can add an extra layer of headache for everyone during these turbulent times.)
